With thousands of trees being cut every day, how can we be sure that there will be trees for our future?

FACTS:

The harvesting of trees allows new, young, vigorous plants, shrubs and seedlings to flourish in areas where larger, more mature trees had shaded their growth.

Increased sunlight stimulates the growth of seedlings on the forest floor, allowing them to regenerate naturally.

In addition to natural regeneration, more than one million tree seedlings were planted on surface-mined land in West Virginia in 2005.

Forest management makes use of natural biological processes to even out the “up and down” cycle and ensure a long term, continuous supply of wood, water, wildlife and recreation.
