About Us

  • We are the people that brought the bare mountains of 1910 to their present state of lush West Virginia forests.
  • We produce amazing vistas and create attractive tourism options for in-state and out-of-state travelers.
  • We are hundreds of thousands of private property owners. Private landowners own 79 percent of all West Virginia forestland.
  • We initiated and support the majority of regulations that govern forest practices in West Virginia. No other neighboring state regulates forestry to the extent that we do.
  • Our practices help wildlife development in West Virginia. Within the past 20 years, we have multiplied the number of turkey, deer and black bear in our state. Our harvesting methods help to enhance wildlife diversity.
  • We promote practices that help ensure clean water and very limited sedimentation into streams.
  • We support state regulations that require notification of timber harvesting. After harvesting is completed, the West Virginia Division of Forestry inspects the sites to assure the land meets state regulations and water quality is maintained. Severe penalties are enforced if any rules have been violated.
